Gaidouro Tavern, in English “donkey tavern”,
is located above Strani hill, behind Zakynthos town and not far from the
ruins of Venetian castle that in ancient time overlooked the city.
Our tavern is the only one in the island with a tradition of centuries.
Its name comes from the past because it was an inn for people who travelled
with their donkeys.
Our restaurant, opened from November
to
the firsts days of September, has a small and nice internal room for the
winter. During the summer we wait on dinners on a large balcony with a stunning view on Tsilivì area.
While you are admiring the view from your table, Nikos and Daisy, the owners, will arrive with the list of the fresh made starters.
At Gaidaro tavern, besides Greek typical appetizers, you will have also the opportunity to find a genuine home cooking made of fresh daily products.
You will taste dishes prepared with extremely fresh fish, our chicken in white sauce, Zante rabbit, meat on a spit, the stifado (veal meat with red sauce and onions) and you will drink local wine of our production.

On
request, we can buy fresh fish directly from the local fishermen.We want to keep the typical taste of Greece and Zakynthos but creating new recipes.
